Last Minute Halloween Ghost Candy Basket

I am so excited about this easy last minute DIY. This year we have a cute ghost theme going on at our house.  I saw something similar to this candy basket ghost online and on TV.  I wanted to do but my usual spin on it, and make it completely out of Dollar Tree items. 

I decided to use two white laundry baskets, a white circle plastic tablecloth, black felt, and a  clear plastic bowl from the party section.    You can use zip ties or tape to connect the baskets with their bottoms together. 

 Once the baskets are attached, cover with the white tablecloth. 

I placed the bowl in the top basket.  This size laundry basket will hold tons of candy.  

I used the black felt to start the ghosts face. 

I used some craft foam I had on hand to finish off the ghost's face. 

I did not want to open our Halloween candy just yet, because once it is open we will be tempted to eat it. :) I filled with some Dollar Tree snacks to show how much it will actually hold.  This would be a great to hold goody bags for a kids Halloween party in addition to trick or treat night.  

I put a push light under the ghost to light him up on the porch. 

We are ready for Trick of Treat night.  The weather prediction calls for rain, let's hope it cooperates.

I have been trying to add a new post the last few days of one of my Halloween DIYs, but my computer has not been cooperating.  It is several years old, and the battery is no longer charging.  We just went out tonight and bought a new computer.  Hopefully once I get everything I need transferred, I will be posting again.

It's Party Time! Lets Dare to Share!

It is Friday night, and you know what that means.. 

It is time to Dare to Share! 

It's the middle of the month, and we are still enjoying all things Halloween.  Last weekend we went to a Halloween festival, and this weekend we are planning on more Halloween fun.  I am also still working on DIYs and decorating inside and outside my house. 

One of the things I made this year are tiered baskets that would be great for a Halloween party.  They would hold a lot of candy and other goodies.  They are relatively easy to make, and all the of the supplies can be found at Dollar Tree. 

Another Halloween DIY I made are these spooky skeleton hands that look like they are coming through the wall to Trick or Treat.  This DIY is also easy and inexpensive to make.  There are a few more DIYs that will be posted in the upcoming week.

Spooky Skeleton Hands

I recently saw on a reel or a tiktok, a diy where spooky hands were coming out of a wall, and holding a candle.  I decided to try make something similar, but put my own spin on it.

I only needed a few items to make these spooky hands.  I used 2 skeleton hands from the Dollar Tree, 2 small white canvases also from the Dollar Tree, left over white fabric from my light up ghost diy, and some duct tape.  The mini pumpkins are from Walmart for 99 cents each. 

I cut a small slit in the canvas and placed the bottom of the skeleton hand through it. I secured it in place with a lot of hot glue, and duct tape. I taped both the front and the back to make sure the hand would stay in place. 

I hung the canvas on the wall with Velcro photo hangers also from the Dollar Tree.  

Once on the wall, I wrapped the canvas with the white fabric so it looked like the hand was coming out of a sleeve. Since I like fun and quirky diys more than scary ones, I added the small pumpkin so it looked like the hand was trick or treating. 

 I placed the second one next to the first one, and added another pumpkin.  I LOVE how this diy turned out. Not only was it easy to make, it was also very inexpensive.

Halloween Party Tiered Basket Display

If you would like to make easy Halloween themed party  basket trays for your Halloween party, I am going to share how I made these trays two different ways, using only items from the Dollar Tree.

The first type of tiered basket I made with the one that took three plastic spider web baskets, and two sets of skeleton tongs.  I have to admit while I love the look with the skeleton arms, this way is not that easy to put together.  Place one of the arms through the two bottom basket tiers and attach with either hot glue or a zip tie. Repeat with the other three arms, trying to get them as straight as you can.  The top basket will be placed onto the fingers. 

We used the purple basket pictured above at a current market, and it worked great to hold my sugar cookies.  I learned the hard way though, not to leave them in the car on a really hot day.  I had brought them to our September market, and had to leave them in the car while I was at work, because the market was right after I got off work. It was over 90 degrees that day.  When I got to the market both baskets fell apart because it got so hot in my car that it melted all of the hot glue.  I had to remake them for the October market. 

Recently I heard the skeleton goblets made great tray dividers as well.  I decided to try it, and not only is it easier, but the tray is a bit sturdier.   I made a few of these to use for Halloween and for next year's markets.  

Both types of basket trays would be great for a Halloween party, it will just depend on the look you prefer.

It's Time to Dare to Share!

It is Friday night, and you know what that means...

It is time to Dare to Share! 

I did finish a couple of new DIYs that I will be sharing in the next couple of days. I did not have the chance to post them yet, because we participated in another market this week. Every evening after working at the daycare, we made sweet treats for the market.  This was the first market we had all year with great weather!  I entertained the kids at the market with my alien suit that I bought at Aldi a couple of weeks ago.  I got lots of smiles, waves and a few blown kisses from little ones.  

The cookies I made for this market were Jack Skellington, an alien, and a pink ghost. 

I displayed my cookies in my tiered tray made with Dollar Tree baskets and skeleton hands. 

We made these mummy pretzels that are not only cute, but easy to make. 

The cupcakes were chocolate with buttercream frosting.  I was able to taste one after the market, they tasted so good! 

We also had some light up ghosts and ghost portraits on hand.  My favorite is the ghost family portrait in the middle.  I have decided to keep it. I will have a better picture of it soon. I have not unpacked my market items yet, but when I do I will be adding it to my decor.

Lets's Dare to Share!

Now that it is October are you ready for Halloween? I have been slowly decorating, wearing my Halloween themed clothes, and attending fun fall activities.  

We recently decided to get passes to Kings Island that are good through next year.  We don't live real far from the park, and the passes include the Halloween Haunts and Christmas lights.  Tonight we decided to go to the Halloween Haunt.  :) We did not have enough time to see everything, so we will be going back again in the next few weeks.

Another fun thing I did this week was get the Alien onesie from Aldi.  It is super comfortable, and cute as well.  I surprised D the other day when he got home from work and saw me looking like this. LOL!  I plan on using for a few more things in the coming weeks. The best part is it is only $14.99.  

As promised I finally got my Halloween ghost dog DIY posted.  They have been sitting on our front porch the last week, and always make me smile when I get home.  This weekend I am having a project day, and will be finishing several more DIYs.

DIY a Halloween Ghost Dog

My assistant Brittany was very excited to help make her look-a-like ghost dog.  To make a ghost dog you will need a tomato cage, a rubber or Styrofoam ball, a cardboard tube, craft foam, and either a  white sheet or shower curtain.  I found a white plastic shower curtain at Dollar Tree for $1.25.  I decided to use that since the ghost dogs will be on our front porch.  

In this photo I show how a bit on what to do, and what not to do. I first placed a rubber ball on the very top of the tomato cage, but that made the dog taller than I wanted to be.  Also if you plan to light up your dog it's not the best idea to use a red ball. (I will show you why later in the post.  :) I decided that I had to adjust the size of the tomato cage.

I could not find my picture of what the tomato cage and ball should look like when I was making the dogs, so I took a picture under my finished dog today.   D helped me fold down the top part of the tomato cage.  When we are done with Halloween, the cage can be used again.  After doing this, the ball fit snuggly on the top of the tomato cage.  I used a combination of hot glue and duct tape to attach the cardboard tube to the ball to make the snout.  

I covered the tomato cage with the white shower curtain. I then made eyes and noses out of craft foam.  My golden's ears are made with tan craft foam, my black lab has black felt ears.  

I found some white trick or treat pumpkins at Walmart the other day, and thought they would look cute with the dogs.  I plan place tea lights in them so they light up at night. 

Remember when I said it is not the best idea to use a red ball.  When the dogs are lit up at night, my lab's brains glow red.  LOL!   Oh well, I think it looks kind of cute, like she is a zombie ghost dog.
