Currently, much of the country is being buried under several inches of snow. Even places like Texas, that rarely sees snow, is seeing a few inches of the white stuff and freezing temps today. Where I live we have received 7 to 8 inches, a SNOW DAY off of school, and more snow in the forecast.
Several years ago, when my kids were younger and still in school I threw them a SNOW DAY PARTY. It has been awhile since I shared it, so I thought today would be a great day to share it again.
I lined the table with a roll of white paper and the kids drew winter scenes all over it. This was great because not only was a fun activity, it doubled as a table cover. If you do not have a paper roll, a white plastic table cloth from the dollar store would be a good alternative.
Another activity my kids really enjoyed was cutting scrap paper into many different kinds of snowflakes. It was fun to experiment with different techniques.
One of my favorite activities was the make a snowman station. I love both art and working with food, and making a snowman you can eat is the best of both. I filled styrofoam cups with different kinds of candy, mini pretzels, mini marshmallows, fruit roll ups, chocolate chips, and food markers.
The final results were pretty cute. (more pics on the original post) Added bonus, they tasted pretty yummy!
Banana snowmen on a stick with chocolate chip eyes and buttons, and pretzel stick arms.
We also made large pretzel rod snowman treats, and ate sledding bear yogurt bowls.
Our snow day party was a really fun memory for the kids. You can read the entire post and see all of the pictures here.
