Recently my youngest daughter and I got the chance to go apple picking. We live in a state that is known for it's apples, and we have three apple orchards within 20 minutes of our house. We have gone to the same orchard for the last 11 years, and it has become a family tradition.

Another tradition in our house is making banana bread. My family loves it, and we try to have it often. When we have other fruits in the house, we will sometimes try some new combinations. Since we had a big bowl of apples, I thought it would be nice to try a new version.. Apple Banana Bread
In each of the recipes I use the same basic banana bread recipe
1 3/4 cup flour
2/3 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2-3 ripe bananas
1/2 cup softened margarine
2 Tbsp milk
2 Eggs
I mix all of the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl first, and then add the wet ingredients. This time I added a fresh apple cut into small pieces.
Mix the batter well, and then put in a loaf pan (or mini loaf and cupcake pan) sprayed with cooking spray. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 55-60 minutes.
Yum! The bread came out this gorgeous light brown color. I allowed it to cool for a little bit, and then cut a few slices. This loaf will be gone by tomorrow. Banana bread does not last long in our house.
A little bit of butter on a warm piece of bread tastes so good!
If you like this recipe, you will might like some of our other versions of this bread.
What a great combination! I never would have thought to do it, but I love banana/blueberry and banana/strawberry!
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you got to go apple picking. There aren't too many apple orchards up in this part of Michigan, but I grew up in a town that was known for its apple orchards. Nothing quite like a crisp, juicy apple straight from the tree in the fall!
Come downstate and visit me. :) We have two orchards and a cider mill nearby. We love going every year.
DeleteLooks so tasty! I pinned this post and can't wait to try it out.
ReplyDeleteThank you for pinning. It was really good, the kids ate the entire loaf in just a few hours.
DeleteYum! I hadn't thought of adding bananas to an apple bread before. I will have to give it a try soon!
ReplyDeleteYou should. I think you will like it. :)
DeleteI would never have thought to make that combination but it definitely sounds so delicious. Pinning this to try. Cathy
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for pinning Cathy.
DeleteThanks for sharing at Share It One More Time, Pam.
ReplyDeleteI love this bread. My kids love banana bread and I know that they will love this. I love the addition of apples into as they are my favorite fruit. I am pinning this to make this weekend as I just put some bananas in the freezer that were ready for banana bread.
