Kyle made us another meal for dinner tonight. He decided to make a homemade pizza. Technically what he made was semi homemade, but for a teenage boy it is about as homemade as we are going to get.
He used Artsian Whole Grain Pizza Crust, pizza sauce, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, pepperoni and mushrooms.
He unrolled the crust, and then placed it in the oven for 8 minutes at 400 degrees.
He had a method to how he placed the ingredients on the crust. He covered the entire thing with the pizza sauce. He then only placed pepperoni on half the pizza, because he knew one of his sisters not like it. He then placed sliced mushrooms along the top half of the pizza. By placing his pepperoni and mushrooms the way he did, he had 1/4 that was just pepperoni, 1/4 that had pepperoni and mushrooms, 1/4 that had just mushrooms, and 1/4 that had just cheese. He then covered the entire pizza with mozzarella, and added some extra cheddar down the middle third.
Once he had added all of the cheese, he decided the to add a few more pieces of pepperoni on top. He then placed it back in the oven for 7-8 more minutes to melt the cheese, and finish baking the crust.
Since he had used my brand new cookie sheet to make the pizza, I did the cutting. He asked me to cut the pizza into 16 squares. Almost every piece of the pizza was different. Some had cheddar, some did not. Some had toppings, some did not. It really is a great way to make a pizza when not everyone likes the same thing. Before serving he sprinkled on a little bit of Italian seasoning. He forgot to added it before baking. We all agreed that this pizza was really good, and we want to have him make it again.
Very cool! I like to make my own wheat crust in the bread maker on the dough setting, so it isn't hard at all, but buying is easy too.
