Cooking with Kyle - Cheesy BBQ Sliders

Shopping on a budget, Slider ingredients

I am very excited about this edition of Cooking with Kyle. He planned out a meal, went shopping with me and worked on a budget, and then cooked our family dinner.  We not only have one post from today's shopping trip, but THREE!

Cheesy BBQ Sliders, Mini Burgers

For dinner tonight he made us Cheesy BBQ Sliders, and Egg Potato Salad.  Both were really good and gave us very full bellies.  This weekend he is planning to make Smores Pie. Yum!

Making Cheesy BBQ Sliders, How to make sliders

To make the sliders he mixed a pound of ground beef, 2-3 large handfuls of cheese and about 2 TBSP of BBQ sauce.  He did not measure, just eyeballed to what he thought looked good.  He had planned on adding some onion seasoning, but he forgot.  It turned out great anyway.  He started to hand form the mini patties, when I remembered I had a slider press that I bought at Target Dollar Spot last summer.  He was very happy I had that, because helped him make the patties much quicker.    Our big gas grill is currently out of propane, so he used our George Foreman grill.  It worked out well, and it was probably safer for him to use anyway.  Because the patties were small, the cooked very quickly.

Cheesy BBQ Sliders, Homemade Potato Salad, Egg Potato Salad

He chose to use Kings Hawaiian rolls as the buns. They were the perfect size, and the sweetness in the bread went perfectly with the boldness of the BBQ sauce. He added some extra shredded cheese on the top of about half the sliders.   He made an egg potato salad that was super yummy. We will be sharing that recipes  in the next Cooking with Kyle.
