One thing that I really liked about having an Art Themed Party, it was very easy to come up with the color scheme. We knew right away we wanted to use all the colors of the rainbow. Here are some of the bright and colorful things that we made for our party.
At first I thought I would get 6 or 7 glass jars, and fill them with each individual color of the rainbow. I only had three jars though, so we chose three types of colorful candy. We filled the jars with gumballs, gummy bears and skittles.
We tried to make our own rainbow colored rock candy. We were so excited that it was a success! I plan on sharing how we made it in another post this week.
We had a fruit plate filled with colorful fruit. We served red strawberries, orange cantaloupe, yellow bananas, green grapes and green kiwi, blue blueberries and purple grapes.
While our pasta salad did not incorporate all the colors of the rainbow, we made it nice and colorful by using tri-color rotini. You can see how to make Pizza Pasta Salad on this post here.
The rainbow colored Fruity Pebble paintbrushes were also a big hit. There is a reason why there is only one paintbrush in this picture. They disappeared too quickly for me to get a good pic.
We made a rainbow backdrop by hanging different color plastic tablecloths from the mantle. It really helped make the party room, bright, colorful and fun.
We also hung a rainbow crepe paper chandelier in the party room. I used different colors of crepe paper and hung them from a hanging basket that I found at the dollar store.
We would have liked to make a rainbow cake like this gorgeous beauty that is on BettyCrocker.com. We also thought of trying to make a tie dye cake like this one from Bird On a Cake.
In the end, there just was not enough time to make multiple color layers, and Kara wanted to do the decorating herself. While going through my baking stash we found that I had several colors of Wilton color mist.
We had enough colors on hand, that Kara was able to decorate her cake in just a matter of minutes. She was very happy with how her cake turned out, and I was happy that it was quick and easy.
I will be linking up my post Rainbow Party Ideas on the following linky parties here.
