You may have been wondering where I have been the last few days. I have been around, just really busy. Tuesday was the first day of school for us. In our school district, all 3 of my kids go to different schools, at different times. There is a lot of running around and juggling. I ended up having to do a lot of parent "homework" signing this form and that form the last few days. We are starting to get back into our school routine and so far, everyone likes their teachers.
Now to share a bit of what has been going on in my life lately. Hopefully I am not scaring anyone with my foot picture, but it is the best one that shows a little bit of what has been happening. Yes, my foot is very red and swollen. No, I did not hurt it. I have had a chronic hiving condition since I was pregnant with Kara 11 years ago. It comes and goes, but lately it is been really bad. The redness is a giant hive which made my foot is so swollen I could hardly walk that day. This is not the only place I get hives, and luckily giant foot hives do not happen daily. I have been talked to the dermatologist a few times over the years and each time they said that I should take daily anti-histimines because my body makes too much of it and then dumps it. They did not refer me on, because they said it is rare to find out what causing the hives. Well doing some of my own research, I think I found the answer. There is an autoimmune hiving condition that sounds exactly like what I have. In the addition to the hives, I have been having symptoms of fibromyalgia (which my mom has) and autoimmune thyroid disease (which my oldest daughter was just diagnosed with). This summer I have been feeling pretty horrible, and have had a lot of pain. After taking my daughter to the endocrinologist in early Aug, I was told I should be checked out too because it is often genetic. Today I had a physical. My drs. office is very thorough, and also does a basic EKG at the appointment. My results came back off a little off. I was not surprised by that, because I have been short of breath a lot lately. Because of that, they did a chest Xray today, and I have to have a stress test in 2 weeks. My dr. also told me she thinks there is a very high probability that I have both fibromyalgia and thyroid disease. (both of which are also autoimmune) I had to give 5 vials of blood for a whole battery of tests. There might be a few days in the near future when I will be away from the computer, because I will be busy with drs. appointments. Hopefully though, I will find out some answers, and be on my way to feeling healthy again.
