Heart Pops

Last year for Kara's class we made Valentine  candy heart pops for her class.  I found some mini candy cane on clearance.  You might still be able to find some around here and there for just a few cents. 

We started by lining up the canes on a piece of parchement paper on a cookie sheet.

We used both pink and red canes, since I had mutlicolors in the box. 

After lining up the hearts, I put in the lollipop sticks.  Try and keep the hearts touching as much as possible.  They might adjust some with the stick.

I melted red candy melts in the microwave using the 30 second method.  Using a spoon I filled in the hearts with the melted chocolate. 

I also sprinkled in some  red sugar for extra fun.   I placed the pops in the freezer for a few minutes to harden. 

To hand them out at school we wrapped each pop in a red cellophane bag and tied with a piece of white curling ribbon. 

Kara carried them to school in the candy cane boxes for extra protection.    They were a huge hit with the kids. We plan on making them again for her class this year.
