We were having spaghetti for dinner tonight, but I did not have any garlic bread. Instead of running to the store to buy some, I remembered we had something in the pantry that would do.
I had a few hotdog buns leftover from the last time we had hotdogs. They are the perfect size for mini loaves of garlic bread.
Open up the buns and place on a cookie sheet
Spread a coating of butter or margerine over the buns. I then added some garlic salt, parm cheese and a tiny bit of italian seasoning.
I baked in a 450 degree oven for about 5-7 minutes. Keep a close eye on it though, because they can burn easily. Everyone loved it and asked for seconds.
Great idea! I love using what is on hand instead of going out to buy more! suchakingdom.blogspot.com

ReplyDeleteI've done this before but had forgotten about it! Doesn't it work well in a pinch? If you're the type to put the spaghetti on your bread, you really can't notice much of a difference!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, we used to do this all the time when we were kids! I think we liked it more than the toaster. Thanks for helping me remember a great memory. Yum!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I just made this to go with my lasagna a couple weeks ago...I'm your newest follower!

ReplyDeleteVisiting you from Tip Junkie.
My aunt would just use sandwich bread when she ran out...I like this idea too. I guess it doesn't matter what bread it is as long as it had garlic and butter : )
ReplyDeletethis is how we make it at church for the kids still taste great and have never heard a complaint
ReplyDeleteI love that i'm not the only one that's done this!!! HEY, it works!
